Bramley Buffaloes [UK] seek a Prop & a Halfback Bramley Buffaloes, who won the Co-operative Rugby League Conference National Championship in 2009, are seeking a prop and a half-back to further strengthen their squad for 2010.
The Buffaloes are the successors of the previous Bramley club, which graced the professional ranks for 104 years, before being closed in 1999. The old Bramley club hosted the first ever overseas Tour game in the UK, when Bramley played the famous All Golds in 1907, for the tourists' first match.
The Buffaloes, as a supporters owned club, brought the famous amber and black shirts back in 2004. Since then the club has appeared in five successive Grand Finals, winning the National League 3 and the Co-operative RLC National Championships.
The club has a longer term plan to return to the professional ranks, but for the 2010 season will be defending the Championship won in 2009.
The club does not currently pay players. But as one of the most PR focussed clubs outside of Super League, it does attract much media attention and puts players in the "shop window" of the game. Players have gone on to win pro contracts in the past from the Buffaloes.
But just as many have so enjoyed the camaraderie, the media spotlight and the adulation of fans, as the best supported club in the competition, that they have resisted such offers, to stay at the club.
The club is located in West Leeds, and will actively help players secure employment, and find accommodation, in one of the most dynamic economies, in the UK. Leeds is centrally located for travel anywhere in the UK and has a vibrant social and night life.
The club leads the way in players' kit and leisurewear provision. Training facilities are "state of the art" and Head Coach Mark Butterill was RLCN "Coach of the Year" in 2009.
