Following the move of Paul Cook to Huddersfield Giants, Bramley Assistant Coach, Mark Butterill has been confirmed as the new Buffaloes Head Coach.

Butterill is Bramley through and through, being one of the Buffaloes links with the previous Bramley club, having been on the books at McLaren Field. As Assistant Coach he has led the team in the absence of Paul Cook, but will now be in full charge of recruitment, selection and coaching.

“I did not have to think twice before accepting the offer. This is a great club, with a great ethos and is going places” said a delighted Butterill.

“I am pleased that the club has shown confidence in me”, he added. “I have learned a lot working with Paul firstly at Milford, and then at Bramley, but I have my own ideas as well.”

Mark has been with Bramley since the first season back, and was still turning out on the field last season, playing in the Grand Final and gaining selection for England Lionhearts, but will now step down from the playing side.

“I am really up for it and eager to get started and I will now be giving 100% to the coaching side” commented the new Head Coach.

“I am totally committed to seeing Bramley Buffaloes continue the amazing progress made in just 5 years, and eventually helping them to the next level up. With the great squad we have already I am confident we can do just that” he added. “My immediate task will be to look at developing a coaching team.

Bramley Chair, Martyn Cheney, commented. “We had no hesitation in offering the post to Mark. We know what he is capable of and we are confident Mark will keep the club’s momentum going. We are continuing to build as a club, and are keen to see our players grow with us, and Mark’s appointment is testimony to that".
