Rugby League European Federation Development Executive Kevin Rudd has travelled from Kingston to Kingston to this week. He has swapped his London home for time in the capital of Jamaica as the sport continues to proper on the Caribbean Island.

As well as undertaking initial interviews for a Development Officer to help consolidate progress in the West Indies, he has conducted a number of media duties and attended coaching courses, run by national coach Dean Thomas.

“I am here to continue to forge links between the RLEF and Federation partners with cultural ties to Europe” he said.

“Dean has conducted an RLEF Level One Coaching Course as we look to build the necessary infrastructure to cope with the growing interest.”

“I have been interviewed by the local press and television on the Island who are genuinely interested in what the code is trying to achieve here.”

“I have also seen a number of high quality candidates for the Development Officer role we are creating but this position has, not surprisingly, attracted interest from around the rugby league world and there are more to take place before an announcement can be made.”

“I would like to thank the local board for their hospitality and have enjoyed discussing their strategic plans for the future – it genuinely has been all work and no play!”

“Jamaica has great potential and the natural pace of the players I have seen out here is sensational. The Jamaican RL is looking for teams of all standards to come and play in this stunning location and I would certainly recommend it.”
