Fiji Bati coach Joe Rabele wants to continue on the top job after successfully leading Fiji to top four world ranking in the last Rugby League World Cup in Australia. Rabele’s contract ended after the RLWC in Australia last November where he led Fiji to a semifinal exit that bolstered their world rankings to fourth position.
“If they want me to stay I will,” Rabele said.
He hopes to get more training overseas and assist in developing the sport.
“I feel like I still have a lot to give to rugby league but that decision lies with the FNRL Board.”
“The World Cup outing was the highlight of my career but we’ve ridden that wave already and its passed successfully. Now we have to look ahead to the future.”
Rabele has asked FNRL to promote the sport in rural areas, not a hard job for the executives as the RLWC outing has risen the profile of the sport already.
“The interest is there, the question is what they are going to do about it.”
“I will always be available for my country,” he added.
The FNRL Annual General Meeting will be held on February 7 where a new chairman and coach will be appointed.
Chairman Peni Musunamasi will also step down at the AGM.
