Castleford Tigers have been forced into changing their 19-man squad this week with prop Liam Higgins ruled out of the engage Super League clash against Salford at the Jungle on Saturday (KO 6.00).

Higgins whose pre and early season form has been very impressive suffered a knee injury in last weeks win at Wigan and could be out for up to 4 weeks.

Ryan Clayton remains an absentee with a shoulder injury, whilst another prop, Ryan Boyle is still a week or two away from a return after suffering an ankle injury in the pre-season games.

Brent Sherwin who hadn’t played since last August made a welcome and successful return to action at the JJB and came through unscathed.

Coming into the 19 this season is young prop Nathan Massey who is likely to be competing with Dean Widders, who missed out when the squad was trimmed to 17 last week, for the vacancy created by Higgins.

Terry Matterson said: “I’m expecting a very tough challenge from Salford. I watched them at Wakefield last week and they would have been disappointed not to get more out of the game, although Wakefield played well.

“For our part I’m looking for us to combine the best elements from our first two games, the defensive work we put in against Harlequins and the attack at Wigan, but we know that we will have to go well to take the points.”

The 19-man squad is -
1 Richard Owen
2 Kirk Dixon
3 Michael Shenton
4 James Evans
5 Michael Wainwright
6 Rangi Chase
7 Brent Sherwin
8 Mitchell Sargent
9 Ryan Hudson
10 Craig Huby
11 Brett Ferres
13 Joe Westerman
14 Stuart Jones
16 Chris Feather
18 Nathan Massey
19 Kirk Netherton
21 Sione Faumuina
23 Ryan McGoldrick
25 Dean Widders
