Leeds Rhinos powerhouse prop Jamie Peacock has released details of the first two events that will form part of his testimonial, which will run from April to July.  The current England skipper, and seventh most-capped international in Great Britain rugby league history, has been granted a benefit by the sport’s governing body in recognition of ten years unstinting service and uncompromising commitment at the top level.

“I am extremely grateful to the RFL for allowing me to celebrate my career” he said. “It has been a long and, at times, tough road but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed the journey immensely and feel very fortunate to have made a career out of this sensational sport.”

Twice voted ‘International Forward of the Year’, he made his debut for England in 2000, during the World Cup, and scored a try two minutes into his Great Britain bow the following year as the Kangaroos were beaten in an Ashes Test.

There is a reflection of such distinguished representative service in his initial announcements, with the designing of a unique shirt that mirrors the England colours and an International 9’s Touch Tournament on his home and favourite ground, Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

“I am a massive patriot, playing for my country means everything to me and I would like to think that has come through in the passion I have shown when representing the nation” he commented.

“Hopefully the shirt will appeal to everyone and fans will want to wear it with the same pride that I have every time I pull on the red, white and blue.”

The testimonial shirt has been produced by Rugby League Legends and incorporates a specially commissioned ‘JP10’ logo. It is officially launched on the 25th April but anyone ordering it now will receive a significant discount. It is available for purchase at www.rugbyleaguelegends.com

A Grand Final winner five times and former ‘Man of Steel’, the epitome of the modern professional rugby player is also busy organising his All-Star England team to appear in the 9’s competition, which will take place on Tuesday 17th July.

“Like the shirt it will be unique, with my charges taking on an engage Super League New Zealand outfit and other stars of past and present also taking part. It will be something different and may well feature combinations from among the clubs who will only ever play together this once” he added.

Also planned during the testimonial period are dinners in his home city of Leeds and York. Do you have a Drills Book? Click here to order. Compiled from RLCM Drills Books 1, 2 & 3 and offering 233 Training Drills a neccessity for coaches at all levels of the game.
