Wrap-up for 7 March 2009 - The Brisbane Second Division Rugby League competition began on Saturday 7 March, with fixtures in all eight grades. In the Premier Grade, Valleys Juniors beat Redlands 30-6, Arana Hills beat Aspley 26-20, Carina beat Wynnum Manly Juniors 14-10, Banyo beat Deception Bay Bombers 30-12 and Easts Juniors had the bye.
The early winners in Northside 2 were Mitchelton (22-21 v Northside Natives), Normanby (12-10 v Pine Rivers), Bayside Warriors (36-24 v Brisbane Pythons), Nundah Devils (40-0 v Samford) and Dayboro (42-16 v Valleys Juniors). Sandgate Brighton had the bye.
The first round winners in Southside 2 were Sunnybank (36-6 v Centenary), Slacks Creek (28-18 v Rochedale Tigers), Inala (30-10 v St Brendans) and Mt Gravatt (36-26 v Wynnum Manly Juniors).
In Northside 3 the early winners were Mitchelton (52-20 v Kallangur Bulls), Arana Hills (12-8 v Aspley), Brothers Juniors (18-8 v Ferny Grove), Pine Central Holy Spirit (58-0 v Burpengary) and Deception Bay Bombers (34-16 v Northern Raiders), while St Josephs had the bye.
In Southside 3, Wynnum Manly Juniors and Southern Suburbs played an 18-all draw, St Brendans beat Redlands 20-18, and Logan Wanderers beat Sunnybank 24-18. The match between North Stradbroke Island and Carina was not played due to the non-appearance of the referee and Waterford received a forfeit from Mustangs Brothers.
In Southside 4, the first round winners were Sunnybank (28-14 v Slacks Creek), and Beenleigh Juniors (22-18 v Waterford). Logan Brothers and Logan City Chiefs drew 22-all and Inala and Carina drew 26-all. Centenary forfeited to Waterford and Cannon Hill had the bye.
The first-up winners in the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield were Logan Brothers (74 6 v Browns Plains), Norths St Josephs (34-4 v Arana Hills), Valleys Juniors (26-10 v Mustangs Brothers), and Capalaba (21-10 v Albany Creek). Graceville forfeited to Easts Juniors.
In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield, Aspley devils beat Norths St Josephs 24-6, Mustangs Brothers beat Valleys Juniors 50-10, Carina 28 beat Mt Gravatt 28-10, Pine Central Holy Spirit beat Banyo 46-10 and Mitchelton beat Sunnybank 28-8. Sandgate Brighton and Waterford have now withdrawn from this competition. |
