A hat trick of tries from outstanding hooker Phillip Wall, who is in a rich vein of form, saw JARROW VIKINGS maintain their four point lead at the top with a 36-0 win over WINLATON WARRIORS.

Wall posted the opening two four-pointers inside 26 minutes, Bruce Parker converting both and adding the extras to centre David Herbert's 37th minute touchdown. In the second half, Vikings added another 18 points, Wall crossing in the 49th minute and full back Parker ten minutes later to finish with 16 points. Jarrow's sixth try came from Barry Walker.

SUNDERLAND NISSAN made it four wins from their last five matches with a hard fought 44-26 victory against NORTHALLERTON STALLIONS to move up to fourth. Stallions took an early lead through Don Payne but two quick tries from George Spencer, one converted by James Pocklington gave Sunderland a 10-4 lead.

Theo De Vies and Gary Peel then crossed for Nissan with Rob Johnson replying for the visitors to leave the score 18-10 at the break. Sunderland were impressive on the resumption, scoring three further touchdowns from Chris Laycock, De Vies and Ben Slater with Pocklington adding two more conversions.

Kevin Quigg replied for the visitors to make the score 32-16 going into the last quarter. Northallerton summoned a final onslaught, Payne and Matt Lambert going over to cut the deficiti to ten points with as many minutes left but 16 year old scrum half Pocklington kept up his amazing record with his 11th try in 11 games, going over near the posts. Dave Williams added a late score, goaled by man of the match De Vies to complete the win.

South West
DEVON SHARKS moved up to second spot on point's difference with a 62-8 win at SOMERSET VIKINGS, effectively ending the hosts' hopes of a play off spot.

EXETER CENTURIONS, who were second, put in a terrific display against runaway league leaders EAST DEVON EAGLES, succumbing 30-16.

Eight minutes in, the Eagles were on the scoresheet when Jack Westlake put up a high kick and Jack Downie was on hand for the catch and ran in by the posts, Richard Cadywould converting.

Ten minutes later, an inside pass from Downie to Mike Wilson saw him tackled just short of the line. He played the ball to skipper Dave McCarthy who dived over, Cadywould adding the extras. An Eagles trademark set piece saw player coach Tony Emmins stroll through, again Cadywould kicking the extras.

Centurions hit back with two tries in five minutes from Andrew Alderman and Brent Ryan, one converted by Alex Stevens, giving the Eagles an 18-10 lead at the break. Straight from the re-start, play moved to the Exeter line and McCarthy bagged a second try.

Just before the hour, Downie caught a bouncing ball, offloaded to Jim Holman who passed on to Cadywould who went over near the posts, keeping up his kicking record. Centurions came back again ten minutes from time with a try by Sam Gooch, converted by Stevens.

East
BURY TITANS edged into second spot with a 36-30 win away at ST IVES ROOSTERS, jumping ahead of NORWICH CITY SAXONS who lost 26-10 at home to divisional champions NORTHAMPTON CASUALS who scored six tries to two and played with 12 men after a sending off on the half hour.

North Midlands
PARKSIDE HAWKS secured top spot and denied LINCOLN CITY KNIGHTS a play off berth with a 38-10 win in the Cathedral city.

Scotland
In the first round of the play offs, CARLUKE TIGERS shocked defending champions EDINBURGH EAGLES with a 22-8 win in the capital. Kyle Matheson, Melvin Hart and a double to Bart Karalus were the Tigers' try scores, Ross McAuley kicking three goals.
