A bid by Papua New Guinea to enter a team in the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) by 2013 is in doubt after the NRL said it was not looking at expanding the game.
NRL chief David Gallop says PNG's bid may be considered after 2013 when the NRL negotiates new television broadcasting rights.
In a letter to PNG's Prime Minister and Sports Minister, Mr Gallop suggested PNG begin looking at the development of its junior and senior competitions and focus on entering a team in the Queensland Cup. |
