Former Great Britain coach and captain Ellery Hanley is urging runners of all abilities to take part in the 2010 Tower Power Challenge at Bridgewater Place, Leeds on Saturday May 22 to raise money for the Sick Children's Trust (SCT).
The event which will take place in Yorkshire's tallest building aims to raise £90,000 and will see runners scale the 600 steps of the 30-storey building.
The money raised from the event will go towards the ‘Big Move Appeal' the relocation of the SCT from St James's Hospital to the Leeds General Infirmary and Hanley is hoping that the public will get behind the event and edge the SCT closer to their £1.7 million target.
Ellery Hanley said: "Tower running is one of the toughest new sports to capture the imagination of fitness addicts all over the world. I'm encouraging runners to be one of the 300 people running up 600 stairs in this adrenaline fuelled tower race.
"But it's not just an endurance test, the 2010 Tower Power Challenge is a brilliant fundraiser and Eckersley House need public support now more than ever to complete the build of the new house at the Leeds General Infirmary. We need to raise the final £500,000 to open the new house in June."
Participants must be 18-years old and a training plan will be available to download on The Sick Children's Trust website. You can register and download your sponsorship forms at www.sickchildrenstrust.org |
