By Nick Purewal - The Rugby Football League have agreed to investigate Dave Woods' Gateshead sacking. The former Thunder head coach told Nick Purewal he is still waiting to explain his side of the story. Dave Woods is pulling pints and managing bar staff. The ex-Thunder coach has been out of full-time rugby league since December 2008 - and he has had enough.

By Laine Clark - He may be one of the brainchilds of the hugely successful Indigenous All Stars concept but Gold Coast Titans boss Michael Searle says he never wants to see an indigenous rugby league team play a Test or the World Cup. Searle says State of Origin has nothing on the passion shown by the Indigenous All Stars players ahead of their inaugural clash on Saturday night at Skilled Park against an NRL line-up.

By Oliver Murray - Dual international Lote Tuqiri is set to make his Campbelltown Stadium debut for the Wests Tigers against the Sydney Roosters. The former Wallabies winger signed a three-year deal with the Tigers last week, returning to the NRL after a seven-year stint in rugby union.

Former South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Jason Taylor will offer his expertise to local coaches at a clinic at Caloundra's junior rugby league grounds this Saturday. Taylor, a decorated halfback who enjoyed a fine career with the North Sydney Bears and Parramatta Eels, will join forces with Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles coach Brandon Costin.

By Brett Kebble - Knights coach Rick Stone has resisted any temptation to give suspended forwards Steve Simpson and Matt Hilder a run in a second-tier trial against the Newcastle Rugby League representative squad at Tomaree Oval on Saturday. Simpson and Hilder were each banned for two games for lifting tackles in Newcastle's 26-12 loss to the Bulldogs in a qualifying final at ANZ Stadium last September.
